Hi people, My OPC CK is now officially 2 years old, encountered problems ever since i took delivery of the car. Here's a good read if you have the time..
Here are my pains;
1) Booked the car 1st week July 2007 (Car Mart @ Expo)....
Car Delivered in 1st week Oct 2oo7
2) Upon Inspection during delivery, Noticed that solarfilm had bubbles
(Probably due to XXX no. of cars sold hence rush job-
3) Also found a big gap below RH Headlight & bumper whereas LH was flush
(I suspected a shipyard delivery accident hence late delivery)- reported to sales man
4)Drove the car whole day the next day and keep hearing a whistling noise from LH rear window about 100km/h and tyre noise very loud.
(proved to be very irritating on future trips to M'sia)
5) 2 weeks later, tried to book 1st service but had to wait almost a month. Then I realised that I had to leave car for 2 days to service & fix defects.
6)Techs claimed that the gap in the front headlamp was probably due to someone reversing into my car and not an original defect.. but no scratches on the paintwork?
7) Said that they changed the LH rear window seal but didn't help.
8) sent in car again a few months later for 2nd service + window seal noise.
(another 2 days). After collecting the car, i found traces of silicone adhesive around the 1/4 window. I thought it should fix the problem.
9) wind noise problem still persistent at 110km (N-S H'way sppeeds)
Complained again to workshop & they told me that they couldn't test the car at that speed in S'pore !
10) I decided to adjust the door fitting (U bolt catch )on the door myself and realised that the door still had a slight gap. So I purchased weatherstripping from the DIY shop and placed around the upper door perimeter. Took care of most of the noise.
11) the next thing to go was the rear licence plate light lens. was washing the car & the cloth pulled it out. Tried to claim but item not warrantied, Replacement cost..approx $8. When changing it myself, I realised that the bulb was too hot for the holder & was causing burnt marks. So I changed the bulbs to LEDs
12) The Rattling/Squeaking noise from the pulleys & belts became louder & louder.. Sent to workshop, tech said was normal... could find any abnormal noise Maintenace tip Spray WD-40 on the pulley bearings
13) July this year, Car couldn't start... Called Workshop.... Not Warrantied
Cost to tow car to workshop & Change battery $200 +
Self Fix... Repalce battery yourself approx $120
14) Driver's Wing mirror broke while opening it... Not Warrantied
Cost to Replace $170 for mirror assy, $40 for spray & labour.
Mirror not cracked, motorised adjustment working perfectly.
Self fix.. Strong tape ( permanently keep it open then Carbon fibre look a like sticker ) less than $50 Maintenace tip Spray WD-40 at the mirror folding pivot point after washing your cars. It's only held by 3 screws and with the corrosion, it becomes very brittle.
15) (!) light Brake fuid low...remained on yesterday. Topped up fluid, checked and didn't find any leaks. Maintenace tip Tell tale sign that brake pads are wearing out, hence the brake pads are extending further on the discs than normal. Fluid will rise up again after brake pad replacement.
Mine's an auto hence the high brake wear, about 24k km on the odometer
Shared the same void warranty issue with you guys, only thing left to do is to do your regular servicing there and all other maintenance work at your preferred shops.
Received a mailer from them to join an extended warranty program. ..
$1000 + to cover what?
although these set backs disappoints me, for the 'extras' that the CK has over most Jap cars, i can accept that it's just a point A to Point B Car.
the car locator and the winding of windows with the remote, front & rear fog lamps, twin hydraulic bonnent arms, reading lights all around, sunglass holder, door courtesy lights & the spare wheel bucket are really convenient.
It Moves my family of 5 (which Taxis can't take) unless I get a 'limo' or mpv one.
Can Anyone suggest 'silent' tyres for this car & where. I'm still on my Power stars 14'' and will be changing them soon. any recomendation to change to
15" wheels
